Have you ever heard someone say. “What’s wrong with kids these days?”
Jesus said in Matthew 18:6
“Whoever shall OFFEND one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.”
What exactly does it mean to “OFFEND one of these little ones”?
You might say, “No McDonalds!”, or “Go to your room!”, or “Be nice!”
But the word OFEND here is much more relevant to the evil we are seeing today.
“OFFEND” in the Greek (G4624) actually means “scandalize”.
The word comes from the name of the part of a trap where the bait was attached.
The word, OFFEND, covers the following:
To:
• Scandalize
• Entrap
• Trip up
• Entice to SIN
• Cause to fall away from GOD
• Cause the child to DISTRUST or DESERT one whom the child should TRUST and OBEY
• Cause the child to judge unfavorably or unjustly of another – DISRESPECT
• BAIT the child so they are angry
See these are the tactics that Satan tried on Jesus in hopes of causing him to stumble.
Satan tried to make Jesus stumble by giving him a cross to carry, a heavy load.
Jesus in turn used the cross to defeat death!
I pray that children everywhere around the world will use the very tactics of the enemy to gain victory following the example of Christ!
