Mocking Spirits

I remember vividly hearing the story as a child from 2 Kings 2:23-24 about the children who mocked Elisha for his bald head. Elisha cursed the children, and God sent two female bears to eat 42 of the children. That story put fear in me to not ridicule or mock a prophet of God! I remember when thoughts came in these regards looking around for bears!

Some may think this is not a good thing, but today we are lacking FEAR of GOD! There are many “YOUNG” “children” who do not reverence and respect God’s anointed. Elisha’s bald head was most likely a sign that he set himself apart to be different. Leviticus 14:8 talks about being shaven as a sign of being cleansed.

Mocking spirits are rampant today, especially for those who are crying out to Repent, Get Ready, the Day of the Lord is at hand! Those who ridicule, mock, and scoff do not have a hope for a good future as promised to those who are separated unto Him.

Pride is the root of mockery. Proverbs 22:10 says to cast out the scorner and contention shall go out. Pride keeps one from hearing the voice of the Lord and will cut one off from blessing. If you find yourself ridiculing the prophets, test the spirit by reading the Word and looking for alignment (Acts 17:11). Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal all truth (John 16:13). Cast out the mocking spirit (Proverbs 22:10). Elisha was a TRUE prophet of God and had the mantle of Elijah. Mocking a TRUE prophet of God is very dangerous. 1 Chronicles 16:22 – Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.
